One of the primary Graduate competencies here at Valencia Community College and a prime objective of our organization is to encourage THOUGHT.

Not just the classroom, academic variety of thinking, but the personal, perceptive, critical level of individual thought that is so vital to who we are as people; The processes in our minds that make us who we are...

We do not often see the degree to which this one simple process effects our entire life, or how the lack of it can destroy...

Through thought we develop our values and goals...

Through thought we learn how to interact with others...

Through thought we make every decision...

Through thought, we create our moods...

Through thought we determine what TRUTH is...

Without exercising our power to THINK, we are helpless.

Genius scientist Albert Einstein once said, "The significant problems we face cannot be solved at the same level of thinking we were at when we created them." What this means is that we need to be CONSCIOUS of our THOUGHTS and in control of the processes in order to make positive change in ourselves and the world around us.

In our endeavor to become educated, we need not only to learn our academic material, but develop and exercise the thinking skills needed to turn the "knowledge" into "wisdom".
